For a long time, this guest room carried more than furniture. It held the weight of a season I never anticipated. It became a space marked by transition, tension, and the kind of clarity that only comes after walking through the hard. For 18 months, it was where my ex-husband stayed before I filed for divorce.
Every time I walked past the door, I felt the remnants of memories I wasn’t quite ready to keep. When he moved out, I knew I needed to reclaim this room.
Not just rearrange it, but restore it.
I wanted it to feel like mine again. Like peace.
The push to finally make it happen? My grandma, who was flying in all the way from Oregon to stay with me. If there was ever a reason to pour love and intention into this space, it was her. This renovation became more than just a fresh coat of paint or new furniture.
It was a reset, a renewal, and a reflection of the peace I’ve cultivated in this next season of life.
I put this space back together with intention. Every texture, every piece, was chosen to bring comfort and softness into a room that once held so much tension. It’s more than just a guest room now. It’s a picture of redemption. And if you’ve been holding off on tending to a space that carries a hard memory, maybe this will be the gentle nudge you need to begin again.
